Hi! I’m Laura, the founder and director of Freedom Recruitment Agency, a Melbourne based boutique agency. I work directly with owners and hiring managers to understand what their workshop really needs. Then I run the whole process, from the job brief and sourcing through to interviews, reference checks and placement.
I came to this work through volume FMCG & technical role recruitment along with generalist recruiting for clients across Australia. Now I focus on one thing: finding great tradespeople.

Why I recruit for trades and engineering roles
I like working with people and I like the kind of person who does this type of work. Mechanical and trades roles need a particular skillset and a particular mindset. The businesses matter too. Small and mid-size Australian companies are the ones that keep people in good jobs and grow the economy.
How I work
Every business is different, so I start by getting to know yours. We will talk about what’s working, what isn’t and why the role has been hard to fill. I know asking for outside help isn’t always easy, and I treat that with respect.
Then I look at your business the way a candidate would; and at the role itself. I ask one question: why would someone want to work for you?

In an industry that’s heavily male dominated, I am no stranger to working with candidates (and our fabulous clients) without the fluff; where I get a true picture of who they are and what they want out of their next employer … you.
