About the role
We are seeking a Dental Chairside Assistant to support the Principal Practitioner in a diverse and hands on role that combines patient care with technical laboratory work.
This is a permanent part-time position (2 days per week), ideal for those seeking consistent part-time work with flexibility to supplement income elsewhere. Your well- honed chairside skills and expertise will see you hit the ground running while also providing the opportunity to develop additional skills in the fabrication of retainers, whitening trays and other simple dental appliances following training.
The days of employment are Wednesday and Thursday.
You will bring a calm and methodical approach to daily practice operations, ensuring due diligence with each patient experience being seamless, professional, and caring. Along with your chairside duties, you will play an important role in supporting the laboratory side of practice, in this excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety with both the clinical and technical aspects of dentistry.

duties
This role is broken into four key areas of duties:
General Dental Assistant Tasks
Greet and seat patients with professionalism and warmth
Set up and clean down treatment rooms, maintaining high aseptic protocol
Assist chairside with procedures and ensure efficient workflow
Follow up on complex treatments with patient care calls and TLC tasks
Sterilise instruments and maintain sterilisation logs
Capture intra-oral photographs and upload them to software
Participate in daily team huddles and weekly meetings
Reception Tasks
Book and manage patient appointments
Answer phone calls and relay messages promptly
Process payments and issue receipts
Laboratory Tasks
Trim temporary crowns and manage lab records
Fabricate simple appliances; (e.g. retainers and whitening trays) after appropriate training
Organise and track external lab deliveries
Monitor stock levels and ensure timely restocking
Ensuring instruments and equipment are well-maintained and arrange repairs as required
Stock Control
Prepare monthly stock reports
Rotate stock using FIFO to prevent expiration
Maintain minimum stock levels
Manage inventory efficiently
About You
You are an experienced, proactive and detail oriented Dental Assistant who thrives in a dynamic environment. You take pride in delivering excellent patient care and have a natural ability to anticipate the next step in treatment.
Essential
Minimum 18 months of dental assisting experience
Strong time management and workflow organisation
Ability to remain calm under pressure, ensuring smooth patient interactions
Attentive and proactive listening skills with a keen eye for detail
Ownership of tasks and ability to work autonomously
Driven and passionate to support patients at the highest level
Desirable
Certificate III in Dental Assisting (or equivalent)
Current First Aid & CPR certification
Experience with dental software and Microsoft Office
Previous experience in orthodontics, retainers, or lab work
Experience taking high quality photos with SLR cameras and uploading to software
