FAQs

Got questions about how our Casual Staffing Solutions work?
Here are some answers to our most commonly asked questions to help you understand what’s included, how payment works, and how we make casual hiring simple, fast and flexible for Australian businesses.

What is a casual placement?

A casual placement is a short-term hire designed for flexibility. It’s ideal for businesses that need extra help during busy periods, to cover staff on leave, or for short-term projects; without the commitment of a permanent role as defined under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) for Casual Employees.

How does Freedom Recruitment Agency find casual staff?

We advertise your role across leading job boards, handle all applications and present suitable candidates for you to review. Every hire is recruited specifically for your business - there are no pre-filled databases or generic temps.

How long does it take to find a casual employee?

Most casual placements are filled within a few days to a week, depending on the role type and your location. We’ll always give you a clear timeframe upfront so you can plan around your business needs.

What types of businesses use casual placements?

Our casual staffing service supports small to medium-sized Australian businesses across a wide range of industries including:

  • Construction and trades

  • Hospitality and retail

  • Cleaning and facilities

  • Office and administration

Whether you need an extra pair of hands for a project or short-term cover, we can help!

If your industry is not listed above, contact us to discuss if we service yours.

What’s included in the casual placement fee?

Your placement fee covers:

  • Professional job ad writing and posting across major platforms

  • Application handling and candidate shortlisting

  • Communication and interview coordination

  • Support until your chosen candidate starts

There are no hidden costs, markups, or agency margins - just a one-off flat fee.

How does payment work?

To commence work on your casual placement, a 50% deposit is required upfront once the role is confirmed, and you have signed our Agreement Terms & Conditions. The remaining balance is due on the candidate’s first day of employment.

This approach provides a transparent, straightforward process, ensures your role receives priority attention, and allows us to act quickly to source suitable candidates.

All fees are invoiced directly by Freedom Recruitment Agency. There are no ongoing hourly markups or hidden charges.

Are casual placements covered by a replacement guarantee?

No. Our replacement guarantee applies only to permanent roles.
Casual placements are designed for short-term or project-based needs and are offered at a lower, one-off fee to suit those situations.

What if I decide to keep a casual employee permanently?

Once a casual placement has been made, the employment relationship is directly between you and the employee. If you later decide to offer them a permanent role, that’s entirely at your discretion and can be managed under your own employment terms.

How do I know if my role is suitable for a casual placement?

We’ll assess this with you before we start. Generally, casual placements are best suited to short-term, flexible work arrangements; such as covering leave, seasonal peaks, or project-based tasks.

We only take on casual roles that clearly meet the Fair Work definition of casual employment.

Is this the same as a labour hire service?

No. Our Casual Placement Service is not labour hire.

With labour hire, workers are employed by an agency and “on-hired” to your business, usually with hourly markups and ongoing costs.

Our service is different: each role is individually advertised and filled for your business, so the worker is employed directly by you.

This means you get full control over employment terms, no ongoing markups, and a more cost-effective solution for short-term or project-based needs.

Is this service compliant with Australian employment laws?

Yes. All casual placements are managed in accordance with Fair Work guidelines and Australian Consumer Law. We also review each role to ensure it’s a genuine casual arrangement before proceeding.
