About the role

We are searching for a Mechanical Fitter to join their team at their site in Melbourne’s northern suburbs where your hands-on experience and expertise to diagnose, refurbish, repair and maintain pump and vacuum products and systems both on-site and in-house, providing solutions and recommendations with confidence.

This is a full-time role with all tools, full PPE and uniforms provided.

Duties

  • Provide on-site routine maintenance, including preventative maintenance, overhauls and repairs.

  • Receive service calls from customers.

  • Diagnose mechanical faults, troubleshoot issues and test equipment to identify the cause of failure.

  • Work on a variety of equipment including pumps, compressors, blowers, and vacuums (centrifugal, rotary vane, liquid ring, screw, diaphragm).

  • Generate reports within system with requirements to perform service and generate service report / quote.

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals.

  • Ensure items / equipment are properly packed prior to dispatch from site to client premise.

  • Ensure all work complies with WHS, HSEQ, and OHS standards.

  • Maintain accurate service records, audits and quality documentation as required.

About You

You are an experienced Mechanical Fitter who takes pride in your workmanship and enjoys hands-on, technical problem solving. Your in-depth knowledge of pumps, vacuum systems, freeze dryers and rotating equipment gives you the confidence to tackle any challenge, completing tasks calmly, efficiently and to exceptional standard.

You bring:

  • 5+ years’ post-trade hands-on experience.

  • Exposure servicing equipment across multiple industries e.g. food and beverage, pharmaceutical, environmental services, oil and gas, automotive, manufacturing and mining.

  • Advanced fault-finding and root cause analysis capability

  • Skilled in communicating technical concepts without technical jargon.

  • A drive for continuous improvement and learning.

  • Ability to methodically follow process and instruction.

  • Understanding of ISO Standards 9001, 45001, 14001 desirable.

  • Restricted Electrical License (disconnect/connect) desirable.

Additional requirements:

  • Current Police Check, medical test, and up-to-date Hepatitis B and Q Fever vaccinations

  • Some client sites may require drug and alcohol testing
