About the role
We are searching for a Senior Mechanical Fitter to join their team at their site in Melbourne’s northern suburbs where your hands-on experience and expertise to diagnose, refurbish, repair and maintain pump and vacuum products and systems both on-site and in-house, providing solutions and recommendations with confidence.
This is a full-time role with a company car, tools, full PPE and uniforms provided.

Duties
Assess, strip down and rebuild pumps and vacuum systems according to manufacturer’s specifications and quality standards.
Diagnose mechanical faults, troubleshoot issues, and test equipment to identify the cause of failure.
Perform preventative maintenance, overhauls, and repairs in-house and on client sites
Work on a variety of equipment including pumps, compressors, blowers, and vacuums (centrifugal, rotary vane, liquid ring, screw, diaphragm).
Provide technical guidance and advice to junior fitters, clients and the sales team.
Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals.
Ensure all work complies with WHS, HSEQ, and OHS standards.
Maintain accurate service records, audits and quality documentation.
About You
You are an experienced and professional Mechanical Fitter who takes pride in your workmanship and enjoys hands-on, technical problem solving. Your in-depth knowledge of pumps, vacuum systems, freeze dryers and rotating equipment gives you the confidence to tackle any challenge, completing tasks calmly, efficiently and to exceptional standard.
You bring:
8+ years’ hands-on experience.
Experience in servicing equipment across multiple industries e.g. food and beverage, pharmaceutical, environmental services, oil and gas, automotive, manufacturing and mining.
Exceptional ability to identify and pinpoint equipment failure cause.
Skilled in communicating technical concepts without technical jargon.
A drive for continuous improvement and learning.
Ability to lead, mentor and train junior staff.
Flexibility to travel to client sites, with occasional interstate travel.
Valid driver’s license.
Understanding of ISO Standards 9001, 45001, 14001 desirable.
Restricted Electrical License (disconnect/connect) desirable.
Additional requirements:
Current Police Check, medical test, and up-to-date Hepatitis B and Q Fever vaccinations
Some client sites may require drug and alcohol testing
